The following Bio is written and translated on behalf of the artist Konstantina Apostolopoulos by her grandaughter as the artist is unable to communicate or write in English.
Konstantina Apostolopoulos was born in a small village of Southern Greece in 1924 (approx), migrating to Australia in the 1950's. She is a Melbourne based artist who has only started her primarily drawing based practice in the last few years.
She has had no formal education past grade four as poverty lead to her being taken out of school by her parents to work as a shepherd. Drawing is an act of memory work and continuity for Konstantina, as most drawings are accompanied by songs, poems and messages, many of these being from her early village years that are more frequently coming back to her at present.
